Leprechaun

The Leprechaun; Author: Jean-noël Lafargue (Jean-no)

We here at Prost are not looking to destroy your long-held image of the wee-little leprechaun dressed up in a pilgrim style green suit and sporting a long red beard as he runs along in search of his pot of gold. However, within the real legend there is an additional characteristic that you might not have been told when you were a wee-little one still in search of the leprechaun and his pot of gold. You most likely have never known that the original legend describes the leprechaun as a drunkard, most fond of the brew.

With this description, it might be said that the leprechaun was heavily reliant upon what today is known as the “luck of the Irish” to find his much desired gold. Nevertheless, it was not the leprechaun that inspired the well known phrase the “luck of the Irish.” It was the Irish immigrants who migrated from the east coast American cities to the west in the 1800s, where they found enough gold and silver to make others ponder upon such good fortune. Passed off as good luck, from then on the Irish would be regarded as lucky in America.

Perhaps they simply followed the rainbow to their pot of gold as the legend of the Leprechaun says in the traditional Irish folklore. Whether you happened to inherit the “luck of the Irish” or are infamously unlucky, this St. Patrick’s Day you may take luck into your own hands (literally!) by making the journey to Prost Brewing where you can fill those hands with Prost’s gold-medal winning Keller Pils. Indeed, this is the most appetizing gold of all, and you will find that it is overflowing at Prost, abundant enough to be shared among all of your fellow St. Patty’s Day leprechauns (i.e. friends)!

For those who did not find the gold this past weekend, it’s not too late! There is still time to party in green, even if you have to do so after work. All you have to do is follow the rainbow to Prost!
