What better way to enjoy a long holiday Independence Day weekend than with a good ole fashion barbecue accompanied by a few growlers of Prost Brewing’s summer brews to share.  This match made in heaven comes together naturally due to traditions that extend beyond America to the lands of Germany, where grilled sausage, sauerkraut, mustard, potato salad, and pickles evolved within a culture that has always treasured their refreshing summer brews.  In such a culture, food was and is created with beer in mind.

Since all of these foods have successfully been integrated into the American barbecue, the stage is set for a traditional German summer bier such as Prost Brewing’s Kolsch, Weissbier, or Pils.  Any of these brews will satisfy the thirst and cool the body down from the extra heat from the ‘grillen’ (German for ‘grilling’).  For those who want an extra thirst-quenching kick, making your own medley of the popular and refreshing mix of German beer and lemon flavored soda formally known as a “Radler” might give you just the edge you need to cut through that summer heat, and relax down into a delicious meal of German inspired, American barbecue delights.  This and other beer based mixed drinks (a.k.a. ‘Biermischgetränk’) can also be found and enjoyed in Prost Brewing’s beer hall, open all day long, regardless of the summer heat.
