Summer may technically begin on June 21st, but the thermometer is reading summer already. With these hotter temperatures, you may be pondering upon what warm weather drink will cool you down and quench your thirst. Prost Brewing has you covered this summer with brews that are the Germans’ drinks of choice during those sweltering hot days.
Two of the German classic summer brews include the Pilsner and the Weissbier. Their crisp, dry, and slightly spicy taste profiles slake a warm weather thirst in minutes. In addition, they both have a lower alcohol content of less than 5% ABV. Alcohol has an ability to dehydrate at high levels so this lower alcohol content is ideal for the summer months when you are more susceptible to dehydration.
All in all, both of these German classics are considered by many to be the quintessential summer brews. The spicy hops and fizz of the Pilsner will surely wash the heat away, and the Weissbier’s combination of banana and clove followed by a crisp finish will give you a flavor filled, thirst-quenching mouthful of what German’s call ‘summer bliss.’
