Do Hobbits Drink Dunkel Beer?

November 12, 2012 by Prost Brewing

The name “Dunkel” sounds like the name of a kind of beer the author JRR Tolkien of the novel The Lord of the Rings would have created for happy hobbits to imbibe.  While this may not be exactly true, Dunkels are indeed a rare and special beer that come from the faraway land of Bamberg, Germany that is world famous for its brewing.

Prost chose to revive and preserve this beer that was originally made by the brewery in Germany in which Prost Brewing got its Antique Brewhouse from.  Prost revived it not simply for tradition sake, but rather because it was just that good.

With a dark amber color and that distinctive malty flavor that can only be created through a special technique of decoction mashing, the Altfränkisches Dunkel Bier is a smooth, malty beer that is a rare specialty in the world of beer.
