O’Zapft is! With these words, the mayor of Munich taps the first keg of beer at the Wies’n, better known as Oktoberfest to the rest of the world. At the outrageous party in Munich, over 6 million liters of delicious beer and a multitude of chickens, pigs and pretzel are consumed over the roughly two week festival.
Only slightly less ambitious, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Prost Brewing brings a slice of Munich to Denver with our inaugural Oktoberfest celebration. Oktoberfest was initially a wedding party for two famous rich people nobody really cares about anymore but these days it is a great excuse to have a Maß (or three) of beer, wear leather pants and watch girls in dirndls. Maybe that’s just my plan, but I can’t think of a better way to spend a glorious autumn afternoon.
In keeping with tradition, we at Prost are honored to have Mayor Michael B. Hancock tap the first keg of Prost Maerzen to start the party. Come down on Friday at noon, and enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather in our biergarten.
O’Zapft is! Or in English It’s Tapped!
